Although I doubt that this will be a much sought-after operation for members of the TPC, there was a story on Sky News a couple of months ago about a clinic in Russia which can make people taller by leg lengthening. I think the medical term for the operation is 'distraction osteogenesis'. The operation involved an incision being made, separating the lower (and sometimes upper) leg bones, and gradually pulling them apart (about 1mm a day), with new bone, skin and muscle growing in its place. The patient has a 'scaffold' around the extended area of their legs, and this is kept on after lengthening while they learn to walk again. The amount of lengthening varies, but I think one of the patients gained something like four extra inches in height.

I don't suppose they would be too willing to perform the operation on a six foot three inch person? I would be quite willing to subject myself to five or six months of slight discomfort to get up to 6' 9"!

Read Phil's book in issues of cosmetic height adjustment. I would rather be the height God made me........or my genes have produced. I think acceptance of people as we are is what the TPC is all about.

I know...my last post was very much in jest, as the icons I used were intended to indicate. I know that most men would give anything to be 6' 3" and that I should be very grateful that, as you mentioned, my genetic code has given me this height. The Sky News story shows, however, what lengths (forgive the pun) some people are prepared to go to nowadays to improve themselves, and how conscious people are that society places such an emphasis on achieving an excellent (or perfect) body image.

I would love to have something changed...(If I had the guts and the money my height would of been top of my Priority many years ago it only worried me when some (Fool) would mention it. The media tells us.. which in turn tells the public which inturn tells you, you are not 100% normal and you need to be a certain way its a vicious circle. If its for Health Reasons, Accidents,or constructive Surgery thats a whole different ball game. (I don't know what I'm Babbling on about I don't even understand myself (Brain transplant now thats an idea
Best wishes....wishes she had less wrinkles Odette XXX
