I couldn't agree more - this has been a great edition of 6ft+. I had wanted to get my article on the World Netball Series tournament in for this edition, but it will have to go in the next. I will also include some of the photos I took. If I go to the London pub meeting this Friday, I'll take my camera and take a few photos, which can also go in the next issue. I have only been a member since September 1, but want to be a very active and involved participant.

Yeah, thanks for the last mag, well done!

PS About the Europatreffen - I have started an Event Topic about it. Last time nobody seemed to know who else was going and perhaps it wasn't advertised enough on here to encourage others to go. Generally I think people need to know a few months beforehand so they can factor it into their holiday plans?

Also, I think it is good, if not a requirement for at least 1 director to attend? I believe you do get info from the European committee sent to you? We have had 2 european events in GB which were well organised and very successful, and though we may not be planning to do so again (for a while), we still need to be in the loop?

'A requirement.....' A requirement of what? TPC regulations? European practices? Anything you can point to in order to clarify the situation?

Calm down! Calm down! I never stated I knew precisely what requirements had bearings on associated clubs with regard to the Euro meet.

From what I have understood to be the case, in order for the TPC (or any other Tall club) to continue to be allowed to have our members attend European club events, we need to be present at the Euro meeting to see what is going on, the budget for conventions (yes, it's financial) vote on future conventions and matters arising from events, etc, etc....

In many ways it's just a courtesy by us (or any other club) to show our interest in continuing association. But ie. if they agree not to have english translation for websites and programme notes then we can't complain because we weren't there to vote/argue against it....

Please check with former Directors like Angela Roberts for clarification or even Phil H? I thank you!

Ok - I could be wrong about this, so I am not putting my "Director hat" on for this comment...

I don't believe it is a requirement for Directors to go. Of course, it would be good if one of us could. However, if someone wants to go in our place, you should contact us and let us know.

You have to remember that we can't always afford the money or the time to go to these events...

Sure, we all understand that but I thought that Directors going, claim something back in expenses as they are representing our club; which I agree with as they voluntarily give a lot of their time to us.

I just recall that the 'Euro meeting' had some authority for budgetary purposes, future events, etc... and it is was necessary for some representation by club officials?

If not, fine! A real difficulty is that the meeting is generally performed in german....except the 'open' meeting at Luxembourg 2000.

I think it's just better that we portray a 'united front' as a group? At least we know all the UK people going!

I attended the Europatreffen AGM in Freiburg, as a representative of the club. It was quite interesting and certainly an eye opener to see just how serious the other countries take their individual clubs, the work that goes into keeping them going etc. I did however express my concerns for our movement, as did all the other 'heads of state' and so gave some input to the meeting. The Luxembourg Club President, kindly translated my views for the other participants. One & all are welcome to attend & I highly recommend that you do, but some form of representation would go a long way, into proving our worthiness. Needless to say, don't mention the war.
